Why I Became a Holistic Health Coach

Oh my goodness, there are so many reasons. I’ll do a full podcast on this someday when the time is right (and if you want to hear it)!  I did it to satisfy my need to guide, support, teach, help.  It is in my nature (and every personality test, human design, or birth chart reading I’ve ever done confirms this!) but SO MUCH more so for others.  I’ve got this down, I know what I need to do for my own bio-individual needs (whether I do them or not...I’m only human)  and how to keep that curiosity and exploration alive to continue evolving my lifestyle to stay healthy. It PAINS me to see others suffering needlessly, diminishing their quality of life, sometimes knowingly, oftentimes unknowingly, but searching for answers, when it doesn't have to be that way! Improving your health and wellbeing doesn’t require a complete overhaul. Your quality of life is determined mostly by the decisions you make every day.  What you do when you get out of bed (or even before), what food you eat, what you drink, your daily movement, relationships that either support you or drain you, career choices, financial decisions, and so much more.  We often think in terms of weight as determining our health (and often worth). In order to lose weight to become a “better” person, we think we need to take drastic measures or restrict and deprive.  To suffer ourselves back to health, for what? To get to a number on the scale and still have no idea how to live life in a healthy and sustainable way? What’s worse than getting to that number and then sliding backwards.  It hits harder.  What I set out to do is reframe the way you see your health and wellbeing.  To change your perspective so that you don’t have to suffer, waste your money on quick fixes, processed junk and incredibly deceptive marketing tactics so that you can live.  Something I heard recently that stuck with me was Lacy Philips saying that she wanted everyone to be able to acquire all of the material possessions they desired, so they could then not care about those things anymore.  Once you no longer desire the tangible, you can start to focus on life, living, and purpose.  I correlate that to the way I approach health as well.  Once you find the freedom in letting go of restriction, control, false narratives, tracking calories, macros and cardio minutes, you find that life is made up of so much more and your health flourishes in all directions.  I discovered that the long and hard way, and my purpose now is to help others see that and experience the magnificent expansion that life has to offer and we all deserve.

xo, Kristen
